Ríver Atlético Clube, usually known simply as Ríver, is a Brazilian football club from Teresina, Piauí state.
==History==
On March 1, 1946,〔 (Ríver Atlético Clube at Arquivo de Clubes )〕 the club was founded by Ginásio Leão XIII students, commanded by the teacher Anilthon Soares.〔''Enciclopédia do Futebol Brasileiro'', Volume 1 – Lance, Rio de Janeiro: Aretê Editorial S/A, 2001.〕 The Commendator Dionísio Brochado brought from São Paulo River Plate of Argentina kits, and then, the new club was named after the Argentine club, and adopted its colors and kits.〔''Especial Placar – 500 Times do Brasil'', São Paulo: Editora Abril: 2003.〕 In 1948, two years after the club was founded, Ríver won its first state championship.〔(List of Campeonato Piauiense champions at RSSSF )〕

In 2000, Ríver competed in the Copa João Havelange, which was the competition that replaced the Brazilian Championship in that year.
